Crochet Rainbow Shooting Star Key Chain - FREE PATTERN & TUTORIAL

So, after I made the super cute heart key chains, I just couldn't stop and had to make some stars. But I couldn't just use ANY star pattern. WHY? Because I looked all over Pinterest and couldn't find one small enough, sturdy enough, or pointy enough! Even my previously designed Shooting Star Crochet Pattern wasn't small enough. I seriously went through like 6 versions of this petite little star before I was satisfied with the design. THEN, I just couldn't help myself and I added RAINBOW TAILS and I just fell in love.

Isn't this just AMAZING. The BEST PART is that the points are built in, not a chain, so you don't have to block the stars and they will ALWAYS stay pointy!

Then you can add on little key rings and they make adorable Shooting Star Key Chains!

Here is the pattern:

Materials needed to complete the blanket:
Gauge:
Gauge not essential, If using materials listed, your star will measure 1.25"x1" or 1.25x4" (with tail)

Written Instructions:
In the Magic Loop: *ch 4 , sl st into 2nd ch from hook, then insert hook into the next ch and draw up a loop, then do a HDC crochet stitch into the magic loop, finishing by drawing the yarn through the last 2 loops on the hook, then ch 1, sc 1, and repeat from * to make 5 points and then slip stitch into the top of the first sc
Pull the Magic Loop tight to pull the star together. Tie the two loose ends and sew them into the back.

To make a tail, cut six 6" strands of yarn in rainbow colors and attach to the bottom of the star.

Add a key chain ring to make a cute little gift that used up lots of scraps of yarn!

Step by Step tutorial to make the points:

Ch 4

Sl St into 2nd Ch from Hook

Draw up a loop through the next chain

Complete a HDC by doing a yarn over, and draw loop through the magic ring (4 loops on hook now)

Complete the HDC (2 loops on hook now)

Draw yarn through the last two loops on hook

Chain 1 and sc into the magic loop. Repeat 4 more times to make all the points!
